About Your Group Clinicians:
This 12 week CFT group is led by a registered psychologist, Dr. Paul Grunberg C.Psych., (McGill University), and registered psychotherapist (qualifying), Riley Desmarais MA (student), who are colleagues at an Ottawa based practice emphasizing psychological interventions from the Third Wave of psychotherapy, particularly approaches grounded in compassion science and mindfulness practice.
Dr. Grunberg completed his PhD at McGill university, where he trained primarily in third-wave CBT, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. Grunberg has co-facilitated multiple therapy groups using ACT, DBT, CFT, and process orientations. As a clinical psychologist, he works with youth and adults on a variety of issues, often focusing on core issues of shame, criticism, and maladaptive coping strategies (e.g., self-harm) and the development of healthy value-driven relationships to self and others.
Mr. Desmarais is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa. He works with youth and adults who experience difficulties related to anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and interpersonal and LGBTQ2S+ issues.
