About Karina:
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa. I provide individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults.
People with whom I work: At this time, I help individuals ages 16+ with concerns such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, grief, relationship issues, low self-esteem, procrastination, perfectionism (high performers, students, etc) and difficulties adjusting to life transitions. I also work with individuals who have family members who have experienced trauma, mental health concerns, or addiction.
Training and Approach: I use a client-centred approach, which means I will always meet you where you are at in the therapeutic process. I strongly believe in building a secure and lasting therapeutic relationship and will tailor my approach to meet your specific needs. Every individual is unique, and it is my job to provide you with a safe environment where you can explore and navigate the challenges in your life. I have received extensive and excellent training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from OICBT. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). I completed my Master’s internship at Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services where I supported the individual struggling with their substance use as well as their family members. I have spent the last year working specifically with military families, specifically of the ill, injured, and fallen. I believe that mental illness affects not only the individual, but their family and friends as well. I have experience working with spouses of individuals struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance use. Therapy is not an easy journey, but it is a journey that is well worth the time and process. I would be more than happy to walk alongside you while you discover your fullest potential.
